Dark matter footprint in the first generation of low mass stars

Apr. 10, 2014

Ilidio Lopes  discusses how dark matter influences the evolution of the first generation of low-mass stars. These dark matter particles are supposed to be formed in the primitive Universe by darkogenesis - a mechanism identical to baryogenesis. The study made together with Joseph Silk focus on asymmetric dark matter particles of low mass as hinted by some of the direct dark matter experiments (DAMA, COGENT, CRESST and CDMS-II, although not by others, such as LUX). The properties of such dark matter particles are such that their density is consistent with the Plank and WMAP measurements and the dark matter particles asymmetry is identical to the baryonic asymmetry.
